We use the word “impossible” very often. We do not give much thought to it before using it. Whenever we use it we limit ourselves and our potentials. Here are some of good quotes to think about and remember….

Visualization is the way

Learn Mind’s Secrets – 5

Visualization is the way

Though we are not consciously aware of it, we live in an immense quantum sea of vibrating energy that is ever responsive to how and what we think. Our thoughts are forever trying to express themselves in our lives. Our thoughts are creative forces, and the sooner we realize this, the sooner we can begin designing our lives with clarity and purpose. As already explained what we focus on, we attract. Visualization is a very valuable technique that helps us to focus, attract and actualize our wishes.

Visualization is simply mental rehearsal. We create images in our minds of our having or doing whatever it is we want. In our mind we are constantly running a mental movie of what we wish to achieve. We repeat these images over and over again.

Visualization, where one mentally rehearses the ideal performance in his mind over and over before the actual event, should be a tool in the success arsenal of every peak performer. In 1954, Roger Bannister did what many people thought no human could ever do. He broke the four minute-a mile barrier. When asked how he did this, he replied that he simply ran the perfect race over and over on the movie screen of his mind before he ran it in reality. Tennis ace Andre Agassi is a master at the art of visualization as is golf legend Jack Nicklaus, soccer superstar Pele and Olympic gold medalist Bruce Jenner.

“It’s all in the mind,” says Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is five-time winner of the Mr. Universe title, a successful real estate tycoon, movie star, and governor of California. “The mind is really so incredible. Before I won my first Mr. Universe title, I walked around the tournament like I owned it. I had won it so many times in my mind, the title was already mine. Then when I moved on to the movies I used the same technique. I visualized daily being a successful actor and earning big money.”

What worked for Arnold Schwarzenegger, Andre Agassi and other legends will work for every one of us. It’s not magic and it doesn’t happen overnight, but if we persist in our vision, we will achieve it.

Carl Simonton, a radiological oncologist, who used relaxation techniques and mental imagery to augment the chemotherapy, radiation, the regular medical treatment that people were receiving. A typical example of some of the imagery, for instance -- one woman with lung cancer would imagine herself going into her lung with a vacuum cleaner and vacuuming away the diseased tissue, and then coming in with a medicated spray. A fourteen-year-old boy with terminal leukemia went into his bloodstream dressed like the Lone Ranger, all in white, and every time he saw a leukocyte he'd pull out his six shooters and kill the leukocyte and haul away the dead leukocytes. He applied this technique of mental imagery or visualization with terminal patients. After five years, twenty-six percent of his patients were still alive.

How did these miracles happen? Here is an important truth we must understand. The subconscious mind cannot distinguish between what is real and what is imagined. Our subconscious will act upon the images we create within, regardless of whether those images reflect our current reality or not. If our subconscious mind sees us doing something successfully, then it retains a positive memory and will in turn give us ideas on how to make that happen.

Now let us see how to practice visualization in simple terms. The first step is just to relax our body, relax our mind, and let ourselves drop into a quieter, deeper level of consciousness, which puts us more in touch with our intuitive or creative self. Meditation techniques will help us excellently to go to our deeper consciousness. After that, the basic technique of visualization is to create an experience within ourselves of whatever it is that we want. That can be an external thing or an internal thing. In other words, we could visualize or imagine ourselves in our new house, or our new job. Or we could simply visualize or imagine ourselves feeling self confident, or feeling very creative, or learning how to express our feelings more directly, or anything that's important to us.

We should make the picture clear and beautiful. We should not be afraid. We must make it grand. We should remember that no limitation can be placed upon us. We are not limited as to anything. We should construct it in our imagination as imagination is what fuels the power of visualization. Clearness and accuracy are obtained only by repeatedly having the image in mind. Each repeated action renders the image more clear and accurate than the preceding, and in proportion to the clearness and accuracy of the image will the outward manifestation be. It will have to be clearly in our mind clearly before it will ever appear anywhere else. We must hold it firmly in the mind and we will gradually and constantly bring the thing nearer to us.

The key to remember when visualizing is to always visualize that we already have the thing we want. This is a mental trick. We don’t hope that we will achieve it, or build confidence that some day it will happen. No, with the visualization technique we “live and feel it” as if it is happening to us now.

When we start to visualize, we simply open up our own horizons, so that we start to notice opportunities that we wouldn't even have thought of before, and we seem to create an open energy field that starts to bring things in to us.

Self-Appointment

Many people believe that you should have someone externally appoint you to do anything. But Kent Sayre says that you can easily appoint yourself to get the results you want. According to him the following message is literally priceless if you truly understand it and apply it to your life. Read the following passage and think over it. Don’t wait for any external authority to appoint you to do great things. Designate yourself. Begin your journey to greatness….

-N.Ganeshan

Self-Appointment

The more things we have in our control, the more empowered we are. And typically, we find ourselves more fulfilled too. So let's begin to control more things in our lives. And one of those is the notion of being certified, degreed, appointed, etc. by external sources. Sure, we need appointment for some things. I like my doctor to have passed exams and be board certified before he operates on me. I like my airplane pilots to have licenses before flying me around.

However, we often are conditioned to live in the junk trance that says we have to be externally appointed, certified, or given some recognition before we can do something. This is NOT true. Think about Edison, the great inventor. He didn't get an inventor's certificate and then go on to become the world's greatest inventor. He just did it.

Think about Bill Gates. He didn't hang out in school waiting to get a degree saying he was an expert in computers before starting his company. He dropped out of college, went for it in a major way, and now is the richest man around. Who knows if opportunity had slipped him by if he had stayed in school, waiting to be externally appointed as an expert?

Think about Michael Jordan who is arguably the best basketball player ever. He didn't wait for others to externally designate him as a great basketball player and then go out and allow his greatness to come out. Nonsense. He declared in his mind (e.g., self-appointed) that he was going to be great and worked hard to unleash his greatness within. It was up to him. Remember, Jordan got cut in the 8th grade from his basketball team. Had he bought into the idea of an external personal judging his worthiness, he probably would've given up and the world would have lost out on the best basketball player ever. He didn't buy into that junk hypnosis of someone else deciding, dictating his fate for him.

My point is that to do something, you don't have to wait on someone else to certify you, appoint you, give you a degree, etc. Designate yourself. Here's what I'm going to do for you. This is the LAST certification you will ever need. I, Kent Sayre, for you having read this message, am now certifying you as a master at SELF-APPOINTMENT. For those who are curious, who certified me to certify others to self-appoint themselves? I appointed myself, of course! You no longer need anyone's permission to go for it. And when you're doing all sorts of great things, showing the true greatness within yourself, some people might ask, "Hey, what's gotten into you? Who gave you the right to do all this great stuff?" And when they do, say, "I did."

Concentration is Power

Learn Mind’s Secrets – 4

Concentration is Power

Scientific research in the metaphysical field has demonstrated the fact that man can influence his sub-conscious mind to his advantage by right thinking. He can bring into his experience the things he wished to enjoy if he thought correctly. Man becomes what he thinks, and what he thinks in the present, determines what he is to become in the future; and also that since he can change his thought for the better along any line, he can therefore completely change himself along any line.

When we want anything, we must enter into the very soul of that thought and be thoroughly in earnest. Every desire should be deeply felt as all deeply felt mental actions become subconscious actions. It is an excellent practice to let every desire sink into the deeper mental life. Only then we awake the finer creative energies of mind, those forces that build talent, ability and genius - those forces that make man great. We must be determined to do what we think we can do, This determination must be invincible, and must be animated with that depth of feeling that arouses all the powers of being into positive and united action. The power will thus be placed at our command to make our dream a reality.

To become proficient in these methods requires the power of concentration. This power can be described as focused attention. It is the ability to direct the attention to one single thought or subject, to the exclusion of everything else. When our mind is focused, our energies are not dissipated on irrelevant activities or thoughts. This is why developing concentration is essential to anyone who aspires to take charge of his or her life. This skill is essential for every kind of success. Without it, our efforts get scattered, but with it, we can accomplish great things.

The cultivation of attention is the distinguishing characteristic of every successful man. The power of attention can be more readily understood by comparing it with a magnifying glass in which the rays of sunlight are focused. They possess no particular strength as long as the glass is moved about and the rays directed from one place to another. But let the glass be held perfectly still and let the rays be focused on one spot for any length of time, the effect will become immediately apparent. So is the power of thought. If we let power be dissipated by scattering the thought from one object to another, no result is apparent. But if we focus this power through attention or concentration on any single purpose for any length of time, nothing becomes impossible.

The purpose of concentration is to apply all the active forces of mind and personality upon that one thing which is being done now, and it may therefore be called the master key to all attainments and achievement. In its last analysis, the cause of all failure can be traced to the scattering of forces, and the cause of all achievement to the concentration of forces. So whenever you are thinking about anything, try to feel your thought getting into the vital life of that something, and wherever you turn your attention, try to feel that the force of that attention acts through your whole mind instead of simply on the surface of your mind. Whatever you have to do, deepen your thought, and the deeper your thought becomes, the more perfectly will the full force of your mind and thought focus upon the point of concentration.

To develop the power of concentration we must practice the shutting out of all distracting thoughts and impressions from our minds. The most important part is to focus positively on one-thing-at-a-time and to avoid thinking of other things that may distract or divert you. When the mind is peaceful and clear, you naturally address issues one at a time. If you limit yourself to doing or only thinking about one thing at a time - you will find that the mind, in turn - gradually develops clarity and with this increased concentration and will power.

Mainly you should become interested in that upon which you desire to concentrate. If you are not interested in that subject or object, begin at once to look for the most interesting point of view. You will be surprised to find that no matter how uninteresting a subject may seem, the very moment you begin to look for the most interesting viewpoints of that subject, you will almost immediately become interested in that subject itself. And it is a well-known fact that whenever we are thoroughly interested in a subject we concentrate thoroughly and naturally upon that subject.

Always look for the most interesting points of view, and while you are looking for those viewpoints, deepen the action of your mind by trying to feel the real vital life of those actions. You thereby become interested in the subject on the one hand, and you make every action of the mind subjective on the other hand; and when perfect interest is combined with subjective mental action, you have perfect concentration.

Concentration has many uses and benefits. It assists in studying and understanding faster, improves the memory, and helps in focusing on any task, job, activity or goal, and achieving it more easily and efficiently. This ability also plays an important role in meditation. Without it, the mind just jumps restlessly from one thought to another, not allowing us to meditate properly. When this ability is developed, the mind obeys us more readily and does not engage in futile, negative thoughts or worries. We gain mental mastery and we experience true peace of mind. It is also required for developing psychic powers, and is a powerful tool for the efficient use of creative visualization.

Chase the clouds away …

Life is not perfect. It does not tally with our expectations. Still life needs to be lived and managed. How can we manage and control our life? It can be done only through proper knowledge and understanding. The following passage from new-age-spirituality.com explains how to chase the clouds of worry and depression. It teaches us how to sail through our life’s storms. Read, reflect, understand and live.
- N.Ganeshan

Chase the clouds away …
Everything is significant. Everything we do does have a permanent effect upon the universe which will continue long after our earthly existence, like the ripples from a pebble thrown into the sea. This is why it is so important to make the effort to do our best at all times, and why every success however minor is worthy of a healthy dose of satisfaction.
Similarly, every experience has a permanent effect upon us. If we are to grow as individuals we must actively seek experiences which will further that growth. Hiding within our shells will lead only to stagnation and frustration, and worsen our depression. Even negative experiences provide an opportunity for growth so long as they are treated as lessons and inspire appropriate responses such as enhanced knowledge that will benefit us in the future.
The perfect human being has not yet been born. What separates the content from the forlorn is how we handle our failings. You are a human being of limited strength and ability. You cannot achieve perfection, for that is not your purpose. Instead, you can and must use what limited capacity you have at your disposal as effectively as possible.
Life is essentially and inevitably a one-way journey to the grave, beyond which we have no way of knowing what, if anything, awaits us. Life, this life, is therefore all we possess. Thus it is our right and duty to make the best of it, to the very best of our ability. To neglect this responsibility is a betrayal not only of ourselves, but of whatever superior power may have gifted us this existence.
Know yourself. Understand your situation. Where are you now? What are your assets and strengths? What are your weaknesses and liabilities? What are your hopes and dreams? How best can you fulfill as much of your potential as possible? Often these are the hardest questions to answer, but without grasping the nettle you cannot hope to move forwards positively.
Is there anything you can do to improve the situation? If there is, do it. If not, then you are going to have to live with it, and you'd better start planning how you can make the best of a rough deal and focus on those things you CAN have an impact on.
Just like you everyone else has also made mistakes, wilful or otherwise, because to err is human. What counts is how we deal with the consequences. To wallow in sorrow and regret is to compound the damage. To seek to learn and make amends is to progress.

Key to the Treasure House

Learn Mind’s Secrets – 3

Key to the Treasure House

We have seen that the mind is a great treasure house and sub conscious mind is the door to the treasure house. Do you know the key to the door? The key is deep and strong thoughts.

There are many ordinary impressions and experiences that enter our consciousness are not accompanied with depth of feeling. We may be conscious of such experiences or impressions, but we are not affected by them. For this reason we need not give them our attention, which is well because the majority of the impressions that enter the conscious mind pass off, so to speak, without affecting life in any way.

But whatever enters the consciousness of man and deeply felt will enter into sub conscious mind. Then it is taken up by the creative energies and slowly begins to express itself in the personality of man. So we become like the thoughts we think deeply because the creative power of thought is the only creative power that we have within us. And the energies of mind are constantly creating. So there can be no greater art than the art of correct thinking. Every thought is a cause and every condition an effect. So it is absolutely necessary that you control your thoughts so as to bring forth only desirable conditions.

Everything has a tendency to grow and increase in the subconscious. Whenever an impression or desire is placed in the subconscious, it has a tendency to become larger and therefore the bad becomes worse when it enters the subconscious, while the good becomes better. We have the power, however, to exclude the bad from the subconscious and cause only the good to enter that immense field. So do not permit any idea, suggestion or expectation to enter the subconscious unless it is something that you actually want developed or worked out, and here we should remember that every idea, desire or state of mind that is deeply felt will enter the subconscious.

James Allen says in “As a man thinketh” “Man is made or unmade by himself; in the armory of thought he forges the weapons by which he destroys himself. He also fashions the tools with which he builds for himself heavenly mansions of joy and strength and peace. By the right choice and true application of thought, man ascends to the Divine Perfection; by the abuse and wrong application of thought, he descends below the level of the beast.”

“Just as a gardener cultivates his plot, keeping it free from weeds, and growing the flowers and fruits which he requires, so may a man tend the garden of his mind, weeding out all the wrong, useless, and impure thoughts, and cultivating toward perfection the flowers and fruits of right, useful, and pure thoughts, By pursuing this process, a man sooner or later discovers that he is the master gardener of his soul, the director of his life. He also reveals, within himself, the laws of thought, and understands with ever-increasing accuracy, how the thought forces and mind elements operate in the shaping of his character, circumstances, and destiny.”

Buddha said, "What we are today comes from thoughts of yesterday, and our present thoughts build our life of tomorrow: our life is the creation of our mind."

So make it a point to give continuous directions to the subconscious every day for the steady improvement of mind, character and personality along all lines. You cannot give the subconscious too much to do because its power is immense, and its capacity limitless. Permit no thinking to be aimless. Every aimless thought is time and energy wasted, while every thought that is inspired with a definite aim will help to realize that aim, and if all your thoughts are inspired with a definite aim, the whole power of your mind will be for you and will work with you in realizing what you have aimed.

When there are no results, do not lose faith. Continue to give your thought a deeper life and a more persistent desire. Always be prepared to give these methods sufficient time. Some have remarkable results at once, while others take long time. Be determined in every effort you may make in this direction, but do not be impatient or over anxious.

Door to the Treasure House

Learn Mind’s Secrets 2

Door to the Treasure House

According to the scientists the universe is alive, and has mind and Mind-Power in every part and particle of itself. Flammarion says: "Mind gleams in every atom. There is mind in everything, not only in human and animal life, but in plants, in minerals in space!"

Miracle is performed every second by plants absorbing the minerals of the earth, which are then converted into living plant-cells; then we eat the plants and convert the plant-cells into animal-cells which serve as the basis of our blood, muscles, organs, and even our brains. In fact, every particle of organic substance was evolved in this way. When we think over this we can easily come to the conclusion that Nature is one in her essence, and that she is alive and possesses Mind-Power.

Cope says: "The basis of life and mind lies back of the atoms, and may be found in the universal ether." Dolbear says: "Possibly the ether may be the medium through which mind and matter react. Out of the ether could emerge, under proper circumstances, other phenomena, such as life, or mind, or whatever may be in the substratum." So the scientists also come to the inevitable conclusion that there must be Mind-Power even in the ether.

We can receive from the deeper life and all pervading Mind Power only that which we recognize, because consciousness is the power between the outer life and the great within. We open the door only to those things of which we become conscious. The principal reason for the average person’s non possession of greater powers and talents is that he is not conscious of more.

The human mind can be split into two different entities. One is the conscious mind and the other is the subconscious or unconscious mind. The conscious mind predominately deals with analytical problems on a day to day basis. It responds to information it receives by processing it and categorizing it according to its view of life.

The subconscious mind is far bigger and does not have analytical factor as such. It is the subconscious mind that keeps your heart beating and gets you to fill your lungs with air without you having to make any conscious effort to do it. If you reach out for a cup of coffee your conscious mind makes the decision to do so but it is the sub-conscious mind that gives necessary instructions to all the muscles involved to bring the cup up to your lips.

The subconscious mind is an incredibly complex kind of computer with a huge memory bank. Basically everything you do or have done in your life is stored there. The memory of every sound you have heard, everything you may have smelled, tasted, or touched. Your brain retains all this information and it is never forgotten unless you suffer some form of brain damage.

All creativity is found in the subconscious mind. It is where the great artists, composers, scientists, and inventors draw on their inspiration. Many great men have said that they carried out some of their greatest works while in a kind of trance state or day dream. Mozart, one of the most intuitive composers in history, claimed his compositions were formed in his mind like dreams independent of his will. In fact the list can go on and on Isaac Newton, Ramanujam, Goethe, Einstein etc.

Your subconscious mind is like a guided missile except it will always hit the target it is programmed for. This is why you should make it the servant and not the master of your destiny. The subconscious mind is not meant to reason but to react to the instructions you give it. It is actually meant to serve you! And it is the door to the great treasure house. It is through this door we are connected with the Universal Mind or God Mind and brought into relation with the Infinite constructive forces of the Universe.
